Thanks! Some people just don't have the genes for them. Idk if I can get them any bigger but I'll keep trying! Larry Wheels is a pretty well know bodybuilder/power lifter on copious amounts of anabolic and his are tiny. I've also seen people who have never worked them at all who have huge and veiny ones. Mostly people who used to be really heavy. They are forced to work them, I guess.

Deffintly alot of genetics at play its kinda funny my dad's calves are as skinny as can be and my moms are average. My 6 year old son on the other hand I can legitimately see his calves buldging from the opposite side of the lacrosse field hahah. He calls them his cabs and he loves to flex them for people. 😄 🤣 . I played ice hockey year round growing up and alot of the size is from all the skating back then coupled with all the mountian biking I still do now.

Otb... when I was looking for calf pics to post for fun it had an article about mountain biking with a pic that was insane.

DP haha im still laughing about your pic haha. But yeah almost anyone I come across on the trails while mountain biking has above average calves and some are just absolutely insane. It's like doing thousands of calf raises per ride at 100 percent effort. Your just digging as deep as you possibly can so you dont have to get off and walk up the steep hills. The area I ride is just all rocky hills with almost no flat riding at all. my rides average about 15 miles so it's I pretty intense workout.

Love the black and white photo, adds a stylistic touch.

I know - again, I'm super jealous of former fatties! For me to grow mine, I needed tons of reps at massive weights before I noticed any change at all. Dem big folk have their body as a built-in calf press just by walking lol

You even look great on the reverse! 💪

I think heavy people with large calves are proof that it's very tough to overwork a muscle and if anything, for maximal gains people are undertraining rather than getting anywhere close to overtraining. I love my daily full body workouts.

I've often wondered what people think will happen if they overtrain: They'll lose muscle? Their muscles perform inefficiently? Their muscles can't adapt and will stop working? I mean I love intensity and - in fact - I never saw a Marine go through all 3 months of boot camp (every single day was intense training with very little rest) and not be able to perform as well as an elite athlete the next day.

Our bodies may give warning signs, but it's not a check engine light that you need to stop immediately... it's more of "hey, this isn't comfortable and I shouldn't do this." Muscles want to be lazy. They try to get sloppy form and use the assistance of other muscles during exercise because they aren't going of being damaged lol. They also scream in pain when they aren't in danger - they're just crying and will thank you once they grow. Muscles are crybabies and will complain the whole workout.
