I don’t know who needs to hear this, but dear God stop weighing in every single morning. You’re only measuring what’s in the tube.

I try to weigh every day but often forget. I'm a senior and have a heart arrhythmia and both of my parents had renal failure. So as a former critical care nurse/coronary care nurse/dialysis nurse I think it is important for certain individuals with medical conditions, similar to me, to weigh every day as we may be weighing more than what is in the tube. Those who are healthy and just trying to lose weight have more options.

I think weigh-in is more of a personal matter that is based on a persons health needs, anxiety levels, and mental neurosis. For example; I understand that I am a healthy weight, but if someone was to tell me I was a "fat beep" at my job because they were angry at me even knowing that they said it because they were angry and being cruel I would focus on the fat part and change my diet and overcorrect. I personally only weigh-in once a month many other people weigh-in daily, or weekly. I don't think there's any right or wrong way. I knew a person that literally weighed in multiple times a day to see where they were to correct their eating patterns throughout the day personally I found that a little excessive, but it worked for them. The only time I weigh in multiple times in a month is when I've had a weigh-in that I felt was faulty either too low/high and then I'll take it a couple days in a row then take the average and base my judgments off of that average. I personally do this so that I don't over correct and go too far down the rabbit hole because of my anxiety issues. I cognitively understand that I wouldn't need to lose any more weight, but I might be overly concerned based off someone's cruel statements or something said in the heat of the moment that wasn't meant and use that weigh-in against myself. Where as other people like Morticia here need to keep up with their weights so that they can see daily changes that might affect their health.

Morticia ✨ Yes!! I’m sorry, I don’t mean to give medical advice on weigh ins, just was posting a funny bit I learned from my medical dietitian years ago that weighing several times a day as I was doing was merely “weighing what’s in your digestive tract aka your tube” and I have always remembered that conversation fondly

An accurate morning weigh in is a dry weight post void- which! should include the movement of bowels, ri? So it’s not likely to be accurate if I have had my coffee or am constipated but… my weigh in every week seems to be about as accurate, given all the above factors are met. I hate it. That’s why I only do it a few times a month.

If you're weighing in every day and getting emotionally invested in every bobble, yeah, probably a bad idea. I do weigh daily, but I keep a rolling 7-day average that I consider my true weight
